Independent Man!
Today's theme was 'I can do it myself'!
After a fun morning of walking around the square and playing at the park with his main squeeze Mia, Henry took a short nap. Upon waking up, he wanted not a lick of help for anything! We tried to share some sorbet, he needed his own. We tried to look at books together, he needed to sit alone next to me, not on my lap. And if he didn't get his way, the hilarious tantrum that erupted was unfortunately not caught on tape. His day ended with a quick bath, made even quicker by the poo-poo he decided to add to the tub. Brian says he launched a barge. Wouldn't you know he sure wanted my help getting out of that tub fast as the poo scared him. I don't blame him, we'd all run from our own poo too right?
This tub shot was taken about 1 minute before exit. Ahh and now the sweet sound of silence as he sleeps, oh wait the annual firecrackers...such fun for the local youth.
Happy 4th!! And happy homecoming today to our new friend, Ruby born this week! Henry can't wait to meet you!

Bikes and Ice cream

One warm summer night, mom and dad wanted to do something fun to enjoy the outdoors. Mom's thought was dine alfresco with burgers and beer. Dad's thought was a bike ride to the ice cream shop. Dad's have the best ideas!! Though we couldn't agree which activity would have most cost effective and most healthy. The ride to the ice cream shop trumped burgers and beer and glad for it, as Henry conked out the second his head hit the pillow.

Dad's Day
We spent the day at Sherman Park. I got some great shots of the park, doesn't even look like the city. I'd bet money that we were in France. Great weather, great company, and a bag chock full of snacks to keep the toddler happy. We had a great time. Brian didn't even get a flat until loading the bike back into the car. I heard the pop and hiss, and thought O gosh the car has a flat tire! So I was thrilled to hear it was the bike tire. Sorry Brian...

Doc says I'm A-OK
Henry had his 18 month doctor visit this week. Lots of relief followed. Doctor isn't worried about speech yet. We're getting there, today we can meow when we see a kitty. YAY! All measurements are comfortably in the middle. A bit stranger anxiety has just started, only with the gym nursery so far though. Blood curdling screams come out of that 26 pound child when we walk past the lobby. Yikes. But he forgets about me once I leave. When I showed up today after the work-out I found him at the play table of rice, guzzling a cup of it. Sick! I scooped him up, he blew kisses to the amazing sitters there and off we went, still waving bye-bye when we'd already left the building.

If we could all just sit down to cook...
We got him this kitchen awhile ago and I knew he was too young for it. Finally he is quite into stirring things around in the pots and putting things in and out of the oven. I just moved his little stool over to the window to so he can watch dogs, cars, and people out on the sidewalk. He'll hang out on that for a good half hour sometimes. His aunt Kate made the stool for him. Thanks Kate!! She's really a white water rafting guide, she moonlights as an artist.
While dad was racing in WI, Henry and I had a fun day. He thinks its so cool to cover his head with a blanket and walk around. Its all fun and games until he runs into something that makes him fall. His 18 month check up is this week and I have a load of questions for the doctor. Hope she's ready for me!
