What a nice warm weather weekend in the city. Henry kicked it around the forest preserve on daddy's back, but also loved the taste of freedom running around the park. He wasn't so sure at first about the backpack, but quickly got used to it. We enjoyed spending time with Aunt Amanda's family Memorial Day and then headed to our friend's on our street for a bbq and Game 2 of the Stanley Cup. Go Red Wings!!

You are my sunshine
Time and benedryl have worked wonders. One week later only a few red spots remain. Henry's old self is definitely back and I do think those steroids had some lasting effects. This week he has to climb on everything, the sofa, the arm chair, and kitchen chairs. Albeit he is getting older and stronger I know. But after spending an entire day saying no to his standing on the furniture attempts, I've caved and realize I'm to pick my battles and that is what kids do, is stand on things. Yes they'll fall off twice or 10 times a day but that is life, that is cause and effect, and that is picking yourself up dusting your knees and holding your head higher than it was before.
Here's a few photos from the park this weekend.

Medical Mystery Mother's Day

Its been an eventful few days. Didn't think I'd spend the last few hours of my 2nd Mother's Day in the E.R. with Henry but hey this one will definitely be one to remember. Unfortunately there is no cure for this other than to never give him penicillin again. So at least we all can come away from this with an answer. But jeez the doctors weren't quite sure. A bug bite? A virus? Penicillin allergy? Brian says medicine is often like car mechanics. Well on the bright side it won't take much for next year's Mother's Day to be better than this one. Oh and I just have to say Brian drove the mini-van so fast to that E.R.!! Dale Jr. would have been so proud.

First Hairs Cut

Oh if I thought I'd walk into Snippets with a 16 month old and walk out with a 3 year old, I might have walked through that door a little slower. But I was oh so anxious to just see what a pair of shiny silver scissors could do to that cute little head of his. And wow was I surprised to see how calmly he sat. My little guy made me proud! Oh and Nana and Papa were pretty darn proud too.

A Helmet for Henry

Henry has totally dug Brian's helmets. Its the first thing he wants when Brian comes back after a ride. No hugs, no smiles, just a helmet on his head first. So today he picked out his own. And hasn't taken it off since. We successfully distracted him before bed time and put the helmet away to avoid bedtime meltdown.

Ahhh the beach!
Finally we're able to shed the jackets, put on the sunglasses and enjoy some sunshine. We headed to the lakefront for some walking and running around. I'm officially calling Henry's first word dog. Sounds more like DA. Apparent after seeing all the other dogs at the beach that weren't his own. This little dog was quite taken with Henry or maybe just wanted the animal crackers he was so willing to share. So greatful for chance to drive with the windows down and come home to a house with the windows wide open. Ahhhh.
